STARTING METHOD OF CASTING AND NOZZLE HEATER IN CONTINUOUS CASTING INSTALLATION

PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of a nozzle with a molten metal by heating up the nozzle drawn to the outside in the stage of starting casting then inserting and setting the nozzle to a continuous casting machine body and starting an operation for supplying the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A casting space 5 is formed between moving systems 3 and 4 formed by connecting casting mold blocks 2 to a loop shape and casting of the molten metal 6 is started after the nozzle 8 of a tundish 7 is inserted to one end of the space 5. A carriage 10 for carrying the tundish 7 is drawn out of the continuous casting machine body 1 b a cylinder 11 and the nozzle 8 is heated by a heating means 12 prior to the start of casting. The heated up nozzle 8 is quickly inserted and set into the body 1 and thereafter the casting is executed. The clogging of the nozzle with the molten metal is thus prevented.
