Method and device improving the precision of weighings made by customers in self service. A tying machine 1 is fitted with a microswitch 4 actuated at each tying operation and through which it is connected by a line 3 to an input 12 of a gate 13 which is part of the circuitry of a balance 2 associated with a printer, this gate 13 having another input 14 connected to a button 15 controlling the dispensing of a ticket so that it is possible to receive a ticket relating to a weighed bag only after this bag has been closed using the tying machine 1. <IMAGE>
