RESIN MATERIAL FOR OPTICAL SERVICE

PURPOSE:To obtain a resin material for optical service having low hygroscopicity and excellent resistance to heat and impact by using TCD-MA, ester of satd. aliphat. monohydric alcohol of >=10C and methacrylic acid or acrylic acid and a copolymer of a prescribed mixing ratio of vinyl monomers which can copolymerize therewith. CONSTITUTION:Benzoyl peroxide and other polymn. initiator are added to a mixture composed of 20-90wt% TCD-MA (component A), 20-30wt% ester of satd. aliphat. monohydric alcohol of >=10C and methacrylic acid or acrylic acid as a component B and 0-78wt% other vinyl monomers which can copolymerize with the components A and B as a component C and the mixture is copolymerized at a suitable temp. (50-120 deg.C). The resulted copolymer has low hygroscopicity and the excellent resistance to heat and impact.
