The invention relates to a method for packaging palletised loads, consisting, in a first stage, in covering the palletised loads with thermoplastic covers whose upper edges are then folded over on the top of the palletised load and, in a second stage, in heating the cover in order to cause it to shrink. According to the present invention, the folding over of the covers is produced by means of a flow of air capable of sucking the ends of the cover towards the central part of the top of the palletised load, and the fastening of these ends is performed by heat-sealing, these two operations being automated.
