PURPOSE:To simplify the controlling program of the position of a cutter tip and at the same time facilitate the cutting of a cutter into tire rubber and the separation of the cutter from the tire rubber by a method wherein the cutter is held at the desired angle to the tread surface of the tire and the cutting edge of the cutter is pivoted so as to align with the direction of a groove and at the same time the cutter is swingably mounted to a cutter holder so as to be able to control the position of the cutter tip through the combination of rectangular co-ordinates. CONSTITUTION:A cutter 5 is adjusted so as to groove a tire 6 at its highest point by shifting a supporting truck 3 along a rail 31 in the direction of the X-axis and at the same time by lowering a supporting stand 32 through a screw shaft 35 with a motor 34 in the direction of the Z-axis. At the end (d) of a groove, where the cutter 5 tends to bite the tire 6, a cutter supporting shaft 43 is pivoted in the direction indicated with the arrow C by means of an actuator 44 so as to swing the cutter 5 only in order to scoop the cutter from the surface of the tire in the direction of cutting-in. Said scooping action allows the cutter to cut into the hard vulcanized tread rubber of the tire, resulting in enabling to easily cut grooves without heating the cutter. |
