PURPOSE:To attain noiseless slow reproduction by a storage means such as a digital memory by repeating the normal reproducing traveling of a magnetic tape and its rewinding traveling. CONSTITUTION:The normal reproducing traveling of the magnetic tape and its rewinding are repeated, and at the time of normal reproducing traveling, a regenerative signal is extracted as a regenerative video signal over one-field period and written in a memory 7. In a period excluding said one-field writing period, the contents of the memory 7 is read out and a regenerative video signal is formed. Consequently, noiseless slow reproduction can be attained without especially adding a low reproducing magnetic head and ordinary tracking adjustment can be omitted. In addition, the rewinding of the magnetic tape makes it possible to reduce the drop-out of a recording track corresponding to the regenerative signal of one field written in a memory at a normal reproducing traveling time.
