PURPOSE:To reduce a noise without lossing an original signal by detecting the correlation of a luminance signal by using the low frequency component of a comb line chromatic signal, i.e. the signal amplitude of a vertical detail signal, and when the correlation is high, adding the luminance signal to a signal previously obtained by 1H or more. CONSTITUTION:When the H correlation of an image pickup signal is high and amplitude of a vertical detail signal is included in a certain proper range, the amplitude arranged in the proper range is detected by a comparator 14 and a reference potential 13 and a control signal generating circuit 11 controls on the basis of the information so that the output signal of an 1-H delay line is outputted to the output terminal of a change-over switch 8. When the H correlation of the video signal is low and the amplitude of a vertical detail signal exceeds the proper range, the excess of the proper range is detected by the comparator 14 and the reference potential 13 similarly to said procedure and the circuit 11 controls on the basis of the information so that the signal from the 1st adder output F is outputted to the output terminal of the switch 8.
