PURPOSE:To obtain a coiler capable of improving the yield of a strip product and reducing the maintenance cost due to the improvement of belt durability, by providing detachably the outer board bearing of a winding drum to the lifting frame of a belt wrapper provided movably in the axial direction of a winding drum and in the direction intersecting with said direction. CONSTITUTION:In case of winding a strip 1 around a winding drum 8; a belt wrapper 9 located at the position where the stopping plate 40 of a stopper 41 is closed and the connecting rod 36 of a connecting device 34 is positioned at its lower limit is moved to the prescribed position of a drum 8 which coincides with the center of a converying line. Next, the plate 40 is pushed out to a releasing limit position, and a connecting plate 16a is inserted to the groove 38 of an outer board bearing 28a by raising the rod 36 of the device 34, then the winding of strip 1 by the drum 8 is started in this condition. In this case, as the wrapper 9 is mechanically connected to the drum 8 through the device 34; the wrapper 9 is moved, while perfectly synchronizing with the movement of the drum 8 in the width direction of strip 1 based on the detection signal of an edge-position control device 30, to follow up automatically the meandering of strip 1.
