In a roof light, in particular for vehicles, with a light frame (1) and a light cover (2) as well as with two electric drives which are arranged on two mutually opposite sides of the roof light, in order to raise the light cover (2) optionally in and/or counter to the direction of travel or to move it into the closed position, as well as with a device in order to be able to close the light cover (2) by hand also in the event of failure of drive energy, it is envisaged that the drives consist of cylindrical lifting drives (6) which are articulated in an oblique alignment in each case at one end on the light frame (1) and at the other end on the light cover (2) and in each case are additionally displaceably mounted with one end after release of a lock.
