The invention relates to a bookmark for books or the like. A bookmark is to be proposed in which displacement is unnecessary, but which ensures that the mark is always in the desired position. For this reason, according to the invention, the part of the bookmark which rests on the open page is provided with a mounting which is situated underneath it and is elastically connected to the upper part in such a way that the pages to be read can be clamped between the bookmark on the open page of the book on the one hand and the mounting on the other. The part situated at the top is preferably connected to the mounting by means of a tension spring.
