In the case of a wall element for the subsequent cladding of facades or the like by means of ceramic panels embedded in a rigid-foam layer, the ceramic panels, together with the foam assigned to them, project beyond the vertical edges of the wall element such that the respectively projecting ceramic panel parts engage in gaps between corresponding parts of the respectively neighbouring wall element. The assembled wall elements form a continuous masonry structure with a continuous rigid-foam layer.
