Process and device for carrying out the process for the automatic adapting of predetermined positioning points and adaptation features which determine the position of patterns within blanks to be cut from patterned material webs to an actual position, determined by the actual material web, of the patterns before the cutting to size, by determining, via an optical scanning device preferably in the form of a TV camera, the actual position of the patterns at the positioning points and from this, taking into account the data of the predetermined positioning points and adaptation conditions, determining correction data and, using these correction data, correcting the stored data controlling a cutting device corresponding to the actual state, before the automatic cutting to size takes place; cf.
