A temperature regulator for electrical apparatuses, especially washing machines and dishwashers, has at least one snap-action switch and one expansion element, which is filled with a fluid or gaseous expansion medium, is connected to a temperature sensor via a capillary tube, is coupled on the one side to the snap-action switch and is supported on the other side against an actuating element (which is supported in a housing part such that it can rotate) via a cam disc which is connected to the actuating element in a rotationally fixed manner and by means of which a predetermined dependency of the switching-temperature values on the displacement angle of the actuating element is defined. In order to achieve fine, exact adjustment of any desired switching-temperature values over a wide twist-angle range of the actuating element, the arrangement is designed in such a manner that the cam surface is arranged on a planar side of the cam disc and the cam disc, which moves axially in a limited manner in the region of the cam surface, is supported axially on the side facing away from the expansion element, such that it is fixed to the housing.
