For producing plate-shaped workpieces of very thin sheet material which are stacked one above the other and are machined according to the spark-erosion process, a blind plate is arranged between every two useful sheets lying one above the other, the material of which blind sheet cannot be welded to the material of the useful sheets. The otherwise necessary separation of the individual sheets from the stack after the machining is thereby dispensed with, as a result of which the risk of damage is also avoided.
