An automatic charging circuit has 3 different charging modes for rapid, automatic, and manual charges. It comprises logic gate circuits, detectors for battery voltage and specific gravity of the electrolyte, an A/D converter for modifying the detected signal, a comparator for comparing the detected signal and the preset value, and a solid-state switching element for turning on/off the charging current with the output of the comparator.
