PURPOSE:To attain matching even with a voice input by means of a conversion dictionary for ordinary input by securing the application of a dictionary for ordinary KANJI (Chinese character) conversion even to the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI conversion in a voice input mode. CONSTITUTION:Voice given to a microphone 23 are converted into a KANA character string by a voice recognizer 2. This character string is applied to an editing control part 10 through a recognition processing part 20. Then a conversion dictionary 12 is retrieved via a KANA/KANJI conversion part 11 by a character string signal. Thus the KANJI is read out of the dictionary 12. This read-out KANJI information is sent to the part 10 and displayed on a CRT16 by the processing equal to the ordinary sentence processing. Thus a dictionary for voice input can also be used as a dictionary for KANA/KANJI conversion requiring the ordinary key input operations. This can decrease the number of KANA/KANJI dictionaries and reduce the cost. Furthermore, the number of parts used at the ROM and RAM parts can also be decreased.
