PURPOSE:To contrive the high performance of a battery by filling the gaps between an electrode plate and a retainer and any clearance in the internal portion of the battery with colloid-like electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A retainer 3 is held between a curved positive electrode plate 1 and a rugged negative electrode plate 2, and above components are assembled in a battery jar, and the retained 3 is impregnated with sol-like electrolyte. And then, coloid-like electrolyte 4 having the low concentration of sulfuric acid is injected into the jar 6, and the gaps on the bottom and lower portions of a battery between respective the positive/negative electrode plates and the retainer 3 are filled with the electrolyte 4. Further, the gaps in the upper portion of the battery between the positive/negative electrode plates 1 and 2 ad the retainer 3 are filled with colloid-like electrolyte 5 having the high concentration of sulfuric acid. Accordingly, the utilization of an activating material is made to be efficient by removing a portion having small amount of the electrolyte, and the high performance of the battery can be obtained. |
