PURPOSE:To obtain a composite head chip having a structure which is excellent in the accuracy of a track alignment, and the productivity, by molding a part to which both center cores are opposed, and a notch part, and fixing as one body both head cores. CONSTITUTION:A head chip 25 is constituted of an R/W core 2, an E core 3, and a mold glass 26 for joining as one body said cores to each other and simultaneously molding a narrow track working groove or a notch. As for R/W use L type core or an R/W use side core 4 consisting of a ferromagnetic material such as ferrite, etc., and an R/W use center core 5 consisting of a ferromagnetic material such as ferrite, etc., a narrow track groove work for controlling a track width TW(R/W) is performed to a medium opposed part, namely, a sliding surface to the medium. An R/W gap or an R/W use magnetic gap 8 consists of a nonmagnetic layer such as a glass layer or an SiO2 sputter layer, etc. The E core 3 has two erasing tracks which are controlled by the narrow track groove work for executing a tunnel erasion, and a width of the groove which is provided between these two tracks is nearly equal to the track width TW(R/W) of the R/W core.
