PURPOSE:To attain a general-purpose file restoration system of simple constitution which is capable of restoration of the file contents in a short time, by recording the type and contents of replacement of a replacement program in a file replacement mode and then performing the prescribed restoration according to said contents of replacement when a trouble is recovered. CONSTITUTION:The file replacement request indication data given from proper programs A and B which receive access from terminal equipments 1A and 1B are stored in an FIFO buffer 2 independently of each other and receive the access from a file replacement program 3. The program 3 replaces the designated ones of those files F1-Fn in response to the access order of each program and also records the contents of replacement to a trouble countermeasure file 4. A restoration program 5 reads out the contents of the file 4 when a trouble is recovered and then restores the contents held by file F1-Fn based on the contents of the file 4. Then the program 5 restores the contents of each file to the state set before the replacement processing under execution when a trouble is generated is started.
