An item of jewellery is produced by the fact that individual objects of different shape are inserted in any desired arrangement in a shallow hollow body which is open at the top, and the gap is filled completely with a hardening, preferably transparent, filler material. The surface is then ground, in which case those parts of individual objects which protrude beyond the upper edge are also ground.
