PURPOSE:To execute speedily the correcting work of a typical document without changing a format by displaying a correcting position by a special symbol, detecting automatically the correcting position, and executing a change from a special character to a designated change character. CONSTITUTION:An input device 1 is provided with a character input key 1-1 and a correcting key 1-2, and when inputting a typical sentence, a special symbol is inputted in advance to a correcting position by using a symbol key 1-4. In case of the correction processing of the typical sentence, when the key 1-2 is depressed at first, the special symbol in a sentence buffer is searched by a typical sentence correcting function control device in an editing device 3. Subsequently, this typical sentence correcting function control device becomes a state that a change character can be inputted to the correcting position shown by the searched special symbol, and displays a guidance for the correction, on a display device 5. An operator inputs the change character in accordance with this guidance display, and the correction processing is executed. In such a way, the correcting work of the typical document can be executed speedily without changing the format.
