PURPOSE:To make positioning of a finger easy and enable to heighten reliability by providing a guide section that guides and fixes at least one of the part between the first and second joints or the part between the second and third joints of a finger. CONSTITUTION:When collating fingerprint, individual recognizing number is inputted first by a key inputting device 1, and the part between the first and second joints of a specified finger to be collated is put on a vacant space A formed in the guide section 15a. Then, the part between the second and third joints is put on a vacant space B formed in the guide section 15b. Thereby, positioning of the finger to be collated can be made easily, and at the same time, the position of the finger is fixed, and fingerprint part of the finger comes into contact with a specified position of the upper face 5a of a half mirror 5. When force is applied to the finger, the fingerprint part comes into contact surely with the face 5a. An uneven pattern of fingerprint can be taken in real time and required accurate fingerprint picture can be obtained, and further, reliability can be improved.
