PURPOSE:To dephosphorize phosphoric ion-contg. water stably and efficiently by passing the water through the packed bed of a granular material contg. Al phosphate at specified pH in the presence of an Al compd., and passing the water through the packed bed of activated alumina at specified pH. CONSTITUTION:Phosphoric ion-contg. water contg. >=10mg/l phosphoric ion is passed through the packed bed of a granular material contg. Al phosphate in the presence of an A compd. such as AlCl3 and at 3.5-5.5pH (the Al compd. to be present is regulated so that the equivalent ratio of the phosphoric ion to the Al ion is adjusted to 1/0.5-1.5). Then the water is passed through the packed bed of activated alumina at 5.5-8.5pH. Consequently, even when the concn. of the phosphoric ion contained in untreated water is comparatively high, the water can be dephosphorized stably and efficiently.
