PURPOSE:To correct a density and to prevent the variance of the density by dividing a pair of heating elements into two groups and discriminating which group the prescribed fine picture element as a matrix belongs to. CONSTITUTION:One continuous heating body R is divided into plural heating elements and the adjoining heating element is classified into two groups as a pair (C11 and C12) and (C21 and C22). On the other hand, one picture element is divided and constituted to a fine picture (1-16) of an nXn matrix. In a tone wedge pattern determining circuit 2, the density of the picture element is determined by the number of fine picture elements to develop color. An electrode discriminating circuit 1 decides if the color is developed by either of two groups of heating elements. At an impressing energy calculating circuit 3 in respective elements of two these groups, the characteristic of the recording density is obtained, and by adjusting the energy given to respective groups in accordance with the characteristic, the variance of the density is corrected.
