PURPOSE:To improve reproducibility of halftone by bringing an electrode into contact with the dielectric layer side of a photosensitive body composed of a transparent conductive layer 4, a photosemiconductive layer, and the dielectric layer, applying voltage, and illuminating the reverse side with light. CONSTITUTION:The transparent conductive layer 4, a photosemiconductive layer 3, and the dielectric layer 2 are laminated on a transparent substrate 5 to form a photosensitive body 1, and an electrode 6 is arranged on the surface of the body 1 to apply voltage from a high voltage power supply 9 through a switch 8, and a luminous flux 13 is irradiated from a light source 12, such as a light emitting diode through a lense 14 on the reverse side of the body 1. Electrostatic charge reverse in polarity to the electrode 6 is induced on the interface between the layer 3 and the layer 4 by applying voltage to the electrode 6. On the other hand, charge generated by irradiation of light beams 13 is transferred from the irradiated parts to the interface between the layer 2 and the layer 3. Then, the switch 8 is turned off to stop the light irradiation, but the charge on the interface is not moved. As a result, halftone can be well reproduced by properly selecting the timings of application of voltage to the electrode 6 and the light irradiation, and developing the body 1 after removal of the electrode 6. |
