The plastic carriers comprise a preferably two-dimensional carrier which consists of, for example, a transparent plastic film or a plastic film and paper laminate and of an ink or one or more printing inks. At least one item of information appearing on the finished plastic carrier is written in the ink or printed on one of the papers. Provision is made for a dark, heat-absorbing composition to be used as ink or as one of the printing inks and for the information (18) thus reproduced to be exposed with the carrier (1) to the illumination of one or more discharge lamps or a CO2 laser until the heat absorbed by the lettering (31) or the printing (21) burns the information (18) into one of the plastic surfaces (24) and thereby fixes it.
