PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer printer of low noise and high printing accuracy by providing a tension applicator to pull from the same direction as the position where a stepping motor is set in relation to the platen shaft. CONSTITUTION:A platen 2 is driven by a system in which a platen drive wheel 5 attached to the shaft 4 of a platen 2 is turned through a belt 6 by a stepping motor 7. A press wheel 10 is attached to the shaft 4 on the opposite side of the drive wheel 5 and tension is given to the wheel 10 by the belt 9 of the wheel 10 and a support wheel 8 for reversal tension. The tension is set up such that it is equalized with tension to be generated when the drive wheel 5 is pulled by the belt 6. Since the platen shaft 4 is pulled to the same direction, inclination caused by play of bearings, etc., can be minimized, and therefore, the platen shaft can be contacted with the paper press roller, etc., under the same pressures. The occurrence of vibration and noise can thus be prevented, and the accuracy of printing can be raised. |
