PURPOSE:To improve wear characteristic and to suppress wear quantities of both member to min. limit, by adopting mineral fiber reinforced composite material to sliding surface part of the first member sliding relatively, and adopting cast iron to sliding surface part of the second member. CONSTITUTION:In combination of two members sliding relatively while contacting with each other in car engine, etc., at least sliding surface part of the first member is formed with composite material of mineral fibers as reinforcing material composed of SiO2, CaO, Al2O3 as main component, <=10wt% MgO, <=5% Fe2O3, <=10% the other inorganic material, and Al, Mg, Sn, Cu, Pb, Zn and alloy of these as matrix. Total quantity of nonfiber particles in mineral fiber is regulated to <=20% therein, content of particles of <=150mu particle diameter and vol. ratio of mineral fiber are regulated to <=7% and 4-25% respectively. At least sliding surface part of the second member is formed with cast iron. By the combination, wear characteristic is improved.
