Drum with a cylindrical wall equipped with a floating lid above the contents, surrounded by a seal whose cross-section has the shape of a recumbent V, the point of the V being applied on the wall of the drum, the lower flared portion of the recumbent V is integral with the lid and the upper flared portion is integral with an arrangement compressing the seal uniformly and held away from the lid by the resistance of the seal. When the level of liquid falls in the drum, the lid descends, bringing with it the lower flared portion of the seal, thus reducing its compression against the wall of the drum and enabling it to slide easily. <IMAGE>
