PURPOSE:To permit an image formation system to be used in simple color displayers, color recorders, and memories, which is capable of giving high- contrast images, by applying heat signals corresponding to image signals as well as light signals to an image forming layer composed of an organic compound whose phase is converted to softened state at a temperature and a functional molecule capable of causing chemical changes by light irradiation. CONSTITUTION:A functional molecule used has image forming functions (displaying, recording, and storing functions) and information converting function (arithmetic function) other than image conversion and quickly responds by application of light or heat. The functional molecule making up a film with a phase transitionary organic compound is selected from materials capable of exhibiting functions in the softened state due to their chemical changeability in the softened state. When the film is heated to a temperature higher than the phase transition temperature to keep the organic compound in softened state, the functional molecule quickly responds to input energy (functional manifestation). |
