PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fibers having soft feeling, good creeping property and deep hut, by drawing undrawn polyethylene terephthalate polymer fibers containing incorporated (meta)kaolin under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:Undrawn fibers of polyethylene terephthalate containing 0.1-5.0wt% metakaolin prepared by firing kaolin, e.g. kaolinite, to give amorphous kaolin incorporated therein, and having 10X10<-3>-45X10<-3> birefringence of the polyethylene terephthalate polymer are drawn under conditions of +5 - glass transition temperature +40 deg.C drawing temperature, 120-180 deg.C, preferably 140-160 deg.C temperature of a heating element provided in a drawing zone and draw ratio of 0.55-0.75, preferably 0.60-0.70 times of the maximum draw ratio to afford the aimed polyester fibers.
