PURPOSE:To facilitate processing of a shape memory alloy into a pipe form and utilize the alloy effectively so as to obtain a rapid action actuator by forming a coating made of the alloy on the surface of a pipe made of flexible material. CONSTITUTION:Shape memory alloy such as Ni-45%Ti alloy is formed in a coating approx. 5mum thick by spattering method or so over the surface of a pipe 1 made of flexible material such as ethylene polytetrafluoride while fixing the pipe 1 in almost U shape. And the pipe 1 is deformed in the shape shown by temporary lines by utilizing elasticity of ethylene polytetrafluoride in the condition cooled to the room temperature, and heated to approx. 60 deg.C or more. Cooling gas is forced to flow in the pipe 1 and electric current is supplied to the coated portion through a control unit 2 every approx. 0.5sec intermittently. Then, the shape memory alloy can be forcedly cooled by circulating the cooling gas in the pipe 1, and an actuator of rapid action can be obtained. |
