<p>PURPOSE:To surely prevent a valve gap from occurring, by connecting a hydraulic cylinder which reserves therein hydraulic pressure, to a hydraulic circuit which leads hydraulic pressure from a hydraulic pump to a hydraulic chamber in a hydraulic tappet, so that reserved hydraulic pressure is delivered at a stroke upon start of an engine. CONSTITUTION:In an arrangement in which an intake valve 6 is opened and closed by a hydraulic tappet 9 in association with the rotation of a cam shaft 10 associated with a crank shaft, the hydraulic tappet 9 receives, in its pressure oil chamber 16, hydraulic pressure from a hydraulic pump 17, and therefore, presses the top surface of a cylinder body 12 against a cam shaft 10. In this arrangement, there is provided a hydraulic cylinder 23 having a hydraulic chamber 26 which is communicated with the pressure oil chamber 16 and the hydraulic pump 17. The hydraulic cylinder 23 is provided with a locking means 29 for locking and unlocking a piston 25 which is moved downward, overcoming a spring 28 when the hydraulic chamber 26 is pressurized by hydraulic pressure from the hydraulic pump 17, and which is in turn provided with a solenoid 35 which is energized to release the locking condition when a main switch 36 is closed to start the engine.</p> |
