PURPOSE:To perform good combustion, by forming a combustion chamber with hollowed parts provided oppositely facing respectively in a cylinder head and a piston and placing the both hollowed parts with their center lines offsetting each other so as to provide a squash area in the peripheral edge of the both hollowed parts. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder head 10, forming a hollowed part 11, screws an ignition plug 12 to be mounted in the central part of the hollowed part 11. While a piston 13 forms also in its top part 13a a hollowed part 14. And the both hollowed parts 11, 14 form a combustion chamber 20. Here each center line O1, O2 of the both hollowed parts 11, 14 is placed being mutually offset. In this way, the combustion chamber, displacing a position of each peripheral edge 16, 17 of the both hollowed parts 11, 14 when the piston 13 is positioned in the top dead center, provides squash areas A1, A2. And the combustion chamber, causing in the squash areas A1, A2 a turning flow in a compression stroke when the piston 13 rises, generates a swirl S in the combustion chamber 20. Accordingly, an engine, which can well distribute the concentration of a mixture in the combustion chamber 20, enables combustion to be well performed. |
