PURPOSE:To enable an ink ribbon to be used in a wholly equalized and plural times circulating manner by shifting the ink ribbon in order for one letter each by line feeding signal, color selection signal, and control signals to be generated for each printing for a given time period. CONSTITUTION:In the case of color printing using a color ink ribbon 18, a line feeding circuit 33 and an interface controller 28 are connected in an electronic switch 37, as shown by arrow (f). A shift control circuit 35 and the controller 28 are connected in the switch 37, as shown by the arrow (h). The connection between the controller 28 and the circuit 35 is turned OFF, as shown by arrow (g). On the basis of information (e) of the controller 28, a ribbon sift motor 16 is driven by the controller 35 for printing, and the ribbon 18 is shifted to select a designated color. Afterwards, on the basis of information (c) of the controller 28, a space motor 32 is driven by the space control circuit 31, and at the same time the printing head 7 is driven by a printing head drive circuit 30 on the basis of information (b). Printing for one line stored in a line buffer 29 is made by the head 7 while moving to the direction of arrow D. |
