The fodder cake press described and claimed in the parent Specification is improved or modified by utilising for controlling movement of the die walls, fluid pressure operated motor means such as the piston and cylinder devices 65, 66, maintained under equal, controlled pressure. The fodder cake press may have a single motor for driving all driven parts of the machine and hot air from the motor may be conveyed by a fan or blower for the drying of the formed fodder cakes.
