<p>A composite material comprising an organic liquid retained within a matrix of an inorganic material, is prepared in accordance with the present invention by a process which includes hydrolysing, in the presence of the organic liquid, a compound capable of producing the matrix of the inorganic material thereby to produce the composite material. The organic liquid may be, for example, a solvent extraction liquid or an oil. Alkyl silicates, alkyl titanates and aluminium alkoxides are examples of compounds capable of forming the matrix.</p> |
