PURPOSE:To improve gas sealing structure at the edge of electrode to increase reliability by installing a sealing groove in parallel with a passage of fluid at the edge of an electrode with rib, and forming a gas sealing part by impregnating a resin having heat resistance, electrolyte resistance, high melting point, and high decomposition temperature into the sealing groove and solidifying the resin. CONSTITUTION:A flat plate is formed by binding carbon fibers with phenol resin, and carbonization and graphitization treatments are applied to the plate to obtain a carbon fiber porous plate. Fluid passages 4 are formed on one side of the porous plate and a sealing groove 7 is formed in parallel with the fluid passage 4 on the outside of the fluid passage 4. Polytetrafluoroethylene powder is filled in the sealing groove 7 and heated at 350 deg.C under a vacuum of 10mmHg to form a gas sealing part. When a fuel cell is constructed with the electrode with rib having this gas sealing structure, internal heat generation and decrease in effective reaction gas caused by defective gas sealing part are reduced. |
