PURPOSE:To provide an ignitor for an internal combustion engine in which the circuit therefor is protected against a high voltage surge by constituting same such that terminals provided to an amplifier are arranged in an optimum close relation to each other. CONSTITUTION:An integrated circuit device 11 has terminal 19a connected to a power line, terminals 19b and 19c connected to conductors of a shielded line (signal line) 18, terminal 19d to a shielded braid, terminal 19e to a primary line, and terminal 19f to a grounded line. The terminal 19d and 19f are connected to a same voltage in the IC device 11. The distance between two adjacent ones of the terminal 19a to 19f is designed to be 1 mm or near so that atmospheric discharge may appear between them if a high voltage near to 1 KV is applied. By such arrangement of the terminals, the terminal 19a for a power source is grounded by way of a battery, and atmospheric discharge from the prinary terminal 19c is effected to the grounded terminal 19d or 19f, thereby attaining protection of circuit elements in the IC device 11 from such atmospheric discharge. |
