PURPOSE:The titled material excellent in strength, etc., of a molding, obtained by graft-polymerizing a radical-polymerizable unsaturated compound with an aromatic polyamide fiber having, on the surface, fine irregularities formed by treatment with a low-temperature plasma of an inorganic gas and impregnating this fiber with a resin adhesive. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide fiber is treated with a low-temperature plasma of an inorganic gas (e.g., nitrogen gas containing 10% or above oxygen gas or air) at a gas pressure of 0.5-5Torr to form irregularities of 0.01-0.5mu on the surface of the fiber. A radical-polymerizable unsaturated compound (e.g., glycidyl methacrylate or N-methylolacrylamide) is graft-polymerized with this fiber. The grated fiber is impregnated with an organic resin adhesive (e.g., epoxy or urethane resin adhesive) to obtain the purpose aromatic polyamide composite material. This molding material can be suitably used for the production of, e.g., golf club shafts.
