PURPOSE:To improve storage performance of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery by adding cupric sulfide and molybdenum trisulfide to a positive electrode using cupric oxide as active material. CONSTITUTION:When cupric sulfide and molybdenum trisulfide are added to a positive electrode 1 using cupric oxide as active material, the decomposition of cupric oxide is retarded and parts of cupric sulfide and molybdenum trisulfide are dissolved and the generated sulfur deposits on the surface of a lithium negative electrode 2 as a film. The film deposited prevents the surface of the lithium negative electrode from the deposition of metallic copper. The adding amount of the binary system of cupric sulfide and molybdenum trisulfide is preferably limited to 5-40wt% based on the weight of positive active material. |
