PURPOSE:To make positioning accurately by reading the value of a counter and measuring a sensor every time a position pattern detection signal is received from a processing device and correcting a designated distance from the result of measurement. CONSTITUTION:The position pattern of a track TT for position detection provided in a carriage 10 is detected by a sensor 6, and a position signal is generated from a signal generating section 12a at every specified driving of a driving motor 12, and the signal is counted by a counter 72. On receiving a position pattern detection signal from the sensor 6, a processing device 74 detects that the carriage 10 arrives at a designated positioning area. Positioning of the carriage 10 is made to a designated position placed away from the edge of the positioning area by a specified distance by driving the motor 12 based on the value of the counter 72. In this case, the device 74 reads the value of the counter 72 every time it received a position pattern detection signal, and measures the sensitivity of the sensor 6, and corrects the designated distance according to the result of measurement. |
