<p>Counterweight and Axle Mounting Arrangement This invention relates to a mounting arrangement for pivotally connecting a counterweight and a steering axle assembly to a trunnion shaft of a vehicle which eliminates the problems of removal of both of the counterweight and the steering axle assembly when only one needs to be removed, serviceability, accessibility, visibility, strength and stability. The mounting arrangement has a carrier having first and second spaced apart support portions and being pivotally mounted on the trunnion shaft, the steering axle assembly is mounted on the first support portion and oriented in a direction normal to a longitudinal frame axis, the counterweight has an upper deck member and a rear slab member, the rear slab member is releasably connected to each of the carrier and the steering axle assembly and the upper deck member is fastened to the carrier for maintaining the rear slab member in connection with the carrier and the steering axle assembly. Thus, the mounting arrangement eliminates the problems of serviceability, accessibility, visibility, strength and stability. The mounting arrangement is particularly useful in a material handling vehicle.</p> |
