摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound economically in high selectivity, by adding a cis-olefin compound to the reaction system in the partial hydrogenation of isoprene in the presence of a catalyst containing a cobalt compound, an organic phosphine compound and an aluminum compound as essential components. CONSTITUTION:3-Methylbutene-1 useful as a raw material of a polymer is produced by the partial hydrogenation of isoprene in the presence of a catalyst consisting of (A) a cobalt compound, (B) an organic phosphine compound, (C) an aluminum compound, and optionally (D) a boron halide compound and/or a protonic acid having a pKa of <=1. The above reaction is carried out in the presence of a cis-olefin compound of preferably the formula (R1 and R2 are alkyl, silyl or aryl, or together form a ring). The objective compound can be produced from an inexpensive raw material at a sufficiently high rate of reaction, selectively, in high yield, economically on an industrial scale, keeping the high selectivity even at a high conversion of the raw material.
