PURPOSE:To sharply improve a durability of a porous gas-sensitive element, by a method wherein an electrode surface is covered with a low catalytic conductive material. CONSTITUTION:A gas-sensitive element is provided with a semiconductor, consisting of a sintering substance of a metal oxide showing an electric value corresponding to a gas component of a detecting gas, and a pair of electrode wires, each whose main component is a platinum for fetching an electric value shown by the semiconductor. In the gas-sensitive element, the electrode wire surface is covered with a covering material being of a low catalytic conductive material. Gold or silver is most suitable for the covering material. The covering of the electrode surface with the less catalytic material prevents the occurrence of a catalytic reaction on the electrode surface, betters the responsiveness of the gas-sensitive element, and permits the sharp improvement of the durability of the element. |
