PURPOSE:To properly detect an acceleration condition with no influence of pulsation, by providing means for comparing a change rate of a suction air quantity with two set values. CONSTITUTION:A voltage VQ for a suction air quantity obtained by an air flow sensor 30 is supplied to an acceleration deciding section 40 and a fuel injection quantity setting section 42. The acceleration deciding section 40 includes a first and a second level comparator circuit for comparing the voltage VQ with a first and a second reference voltage corresponding to a minimum and a maximum of a suction air amount increase rate as considered to be generated at acceleration. When the voltage VQ is greater than the first reference voltage and is less than the second reference voltage, the acceleration deciding section 40 decides that the engine is at acceleration to generate an output signal Ph. On the other hand, after the acceleration, the voltage VQ corresponding to a relatively sudden change rate of pulsation, and exceeds the second reference voltage. Accordingly, the output signal Ph is not generated, and erroneous detection for the acceleration does not occur.
