PURPOSE:To control the number of revolution of a gas circulation blower or amount of circulating quenching gas and reduce remarkably the dust concentration, by measuring light transmittance with a projector and receptor provided oppositely to intersect a circulation gas channel at right angle. CONSTITUTION:A dust controlling apparatus having a projector (12a) and receptor (12b) of a dust concentration meter 12 provided oppositely by perforating a circulation gas duct 8 to intersect a circulation gas channel for supplying low-temperature gases equipped with a secondary dust catcher 11 at right angle in a dry coke quenching equipment constituted of a closed system consisting of a quenching tower body 6, high-temperature gas channel having a primary dust catcher 9, heat recovery boiler 10 and the circulation gas channel for supplying low-temperature gases. Thus, the light transmittance is continuously measured to input the resultant electric signals to a controller 13 and operate a suction damper 14 of a blower 7, and the amount of the circulating quenching gas is controlled. EFFECT:The life of boiler heat transmission tubes, blower impellers, etc., is prolonged and the collection efficiency of the dust catchers is improved.
