ROLL FRICTION BASE MEMBER

PURPOSE:To improve the durability and the resistivity to breakdown of a roll friction base member which reinforces and supports a friction member made of ceramics by using metal alloy having a heat expansion coefficient approximately equal to that of the ceramics as the material of the base member. CONSTITUTION:In a friction part 1 the internal projection 7 of a friction element 11 is engaged in the guide groove 4 of a friction guide 5. A piece 9 which has the guide groove 4 formed thereon consists of ceramics. The ceramics piece 9 contains a metal reinforcing member 10 having approximately the same heat expansion coefficient as the ceramics. The roll friction base member can thereby be provided with higher durability and resistivity to breakdown without having adverse effect on the advantageous properties of ceramics.
