PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a magnetic material without deteriorating photoelectromagnetic characteristics as the recording element by incorporating a complex additive consisting of Cr as the first component and one kind among Cu, Ag, etc. as the second component into a magnetic film. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic film 4 consisting of an amorphous alloy is formed directly or through an intermediate layer 3 as the interference layer, etc. on a substrate 2 of plastics, etc. in a recording element 1. A protective film 5 is provided on the magnetic film 4 to avoid the direct contact with the atmosphere. A complex additive consisting of a minute amt. of Cr as the first component and at least one kind selected from Cu, Ag, Sb and Ni as the second component is incorporated into the magnetic material 4. Consequently, the corrosion resistance is improved by the addition of Cr, and photoelectromagnetic characteristics can be maintained for a long period.
