Prodn. of eburnamenine-14(15H)-one resinates of formula (I) comprises treating an acid addn. salt of (-) eburnamenine-14(15H)-one (II), e.g. the phosphate or hydrochloride, with a cation exchange resin contg. sulphonate gps. in alkali metal form. The reaction is carried out in polar solven, e.g. water or aq. EtOH at 50 deg. c for 10 hr. - The (II) salt is added at over 22 wt.% on the resin which pref. has particle size 50-100 microns and is a copolymer of styrene crosslinked with a small percentage of divinylbenzene.
